Artist Statement:

Working from professionally-developed plans of traditional working rowboats, Jim Tolpin made these combination “line and construction” drawings on vellum using just a pencil, a straightedge and bendable splines to produce fair curves. Admittedly, he also used three different types of erasers.

These drawings include the traditional “graphic rule” that allows you to accurately take numerical measurements of the various dimensions and components of the boat. The drawings are precise enough that you could theoretically use them to develop a “lofting” (a full-scale drawing) of the craft from which you could build the actual boat.

The prints are 8″ X 10″ and are printed on acid-free, heavy weight art paper (80 lb. Cougar Natural). They come with a hardboard backing and are protected with an acid-free clear plastic sleeve. Shipped flat in a sturdy mailer. We are using a flat rate of $8.00 for shipping and handling. If you order multiple prints on one order, the flat rate of $8.00 will cover all prints.
